A practical example
A visitor arrives through a tagged campaign link. The website's tracking script selects an available number from the configured pool and updates the marked phone text and telephone link. A call to that number can carry the session's recorded source information.
How to use this concept
In Chirply, configure the campaign in Phone → Call Tracking, review its number pool and allowed websites, and install the supplied snippet on the intended pages. Mark the visible number and telephone link as described in the setup guide, then test both desktop and mobile behavior.
Size the pool for the sessions that may overlap and review the session time-to-live setting. A pool that is too small for the traffic pattern can limit how precisely calls are associated with individual sessions. A fallback number keeps the page's contact path clear.
Test a tagged visit, the displayed number, the tap-to-call destination and the resulting call record together. Browser restrictions, script installation and missing source data affect what can be attributed. Use actual test evidence before relying on the report.
How does DNI relate to a tracking-number campaign?
A campaign can assign a number to a source such as a print advertisement. DNI adds website session context by changing the number presented to a visitor. The setup and interpretation depend on the pool, session settings and data collected with the visit.
