How do attribution models change channel credit?

First-touch credit goes to the first recorded touch, last-touch credit to the last, and linear credit is divided equally among recorded touches. Comparing them reveals how the same journeys tell different stories. This calculator keeps every supplied touch, including direct visits, and shows channel totals for each model.

Defaults are illustrative. Calculations run in this browser. Values are kept on this page until you change, reset or reload it.

One conversion per line: channel > channel | value. Use one currency throughout. Up to 200 paths, 20 touches per path and 12 distinct channels. Labels: 1–40 letters, digits, spaces, underscores or hyphens; case is normalized. Value: 0–1,000,000, up to two decimals. Use anonymized channel labels only.

Results are rounded to two decimal places. A zero denominator is shown as unavailable. Keep the cohort and assumptions with your report.

How to use this tool

  1. Review the field definitions below and choose one reporting period or scenario.
  2. Replace the example values in Enter your scenario. Follow the field format: plain numbers for numeric inputs, and the documented line or comma format for datasets.
  3. Select Calculate results. Correct any highlighted field, then calculate again.
  4. Review the result alongside the formulas and interpretation notes.
  5. Select Download results CSV to save inputs, results and the method. Open it in your spreadsheet app. Reset example restores every default; reloading the page also restores the example.

Conversion paths and values
One conversion per line: channel > channel | value. Use one currency throughout. Up to 200 paths, 20 touches per path and 12 distinct channels. Labels: 1–40 letters, digits, spaces, underscores or hyphens; case is normalized. Value: 0–1,000,000, up to two decimals. Use anonymized channel labels only. Default: organic > email | 120 paid search > organic > direct | 240 referral | 90 organic > organic > email | 150.

Formula and worked example

First touch: entire path value → its first touch; last touch: entire value → its last touch.

Linear: path value ÷ number of recorded touches; sum each channel's touches across all paths.

Every model allocates the same total conversion value. Calculations use full precision; displayed channel values round to two decimals.

The four illustrative paths total 600 currency units. First touch gives organic 270, paid search 240 and referral 90. Last touch gives email 270, direct 240 and referral 90. Linear gives organic 240, email 110, paid search 80, direct 80 and referral 90. Repeated organic touches each receive their share.

Interpret the result

This is a transparent rule-based teaching model. It retains direct touches and repeated channel touches; Google Analytics applies its own direct-traffic exclusions and reporting scope. These outputs are not a reproduction of GA4 data-driven attribution.

A conversion path is one completed conversion with one value. Keep the same observation window, identity rule and currency. Missing touches, consent choices, offline journeys and cross-device gaps change what can be observed.

Credit allocation describes observed paths. It does not establish causal lift, profitability or the budget that will maximize future sales. Review campaign cost and independent evidence before making a budget decision.

Fix an input or download problem

Complete every required field and keep counts within the stated range. Related counts must describe the same cohort. If you change a value, calculate again to refresh the results. A zero denominator produces an unavailable rate.

The CSV button appears after a successful calculation. Check your browser's downloads list if the file is not immediately visible. Enable JavaScript for the interactive controls; formulas, examples and field definitions remain readable on this page.
