How do you estimate sales pipeline velocity?
Multiply opportunities by average deal value and the win-rate assumption, then divide by average sales-cycle days. The result is a model of value per day. It depends on a consistent opportunity cohort and your assumptions; actual close dates and revenue can differ.
How to use this tool
- Review the field definitions below and choose one reporting period or scenario.
- Replace the example values in Enter your scenario. Use plain numbers with a decimal point where needed.
- Select Calculate results. Correct any highlighted field, then calculate again.
- Review the result alongside the formulas and interpretation notes.
- Select Download results CSV to save inputs, results and the method. Open it in your spreadsheet app. Reset example restores every default; reloading the page also restores the example.

Fields and defaults
- Open opportunities
- Number of opportunities in this scenario. Default: 40. Accepted range: 0–10000000, whole numbers.
- Average deal value
- Value per opportunity in one currency of your choice; the output uses that same currency. Default: 2500. Accepted range: 0–1000000000.
- Win-rate assumption (%)
- Estimated percentage of these opportunities that become wins, from 0 to 100. Default: 25. Accepted range: 0–100.
- Average sales cycle (days)
- Average elapsed days for a comparable cohort, greater than zero. Default: 30. Accepted range: 0.01–36500.
Formula and worked example
Unweighted pipeline = opportunities × average deal value
Expected wins = opportunities × win rate ÷ 100
Weighted pipeline = unweighted pipeline × win rate ÷ 100
Modeled daily velocity = weighted pipeline ÷ sales-cycle days
Illustrative default: 40 opportunities at 2,500 currency units and a 25% win-rate assumption produce 100,000 unweighted value, 10 expected wins and 25,000 weighted value. Over 30 days, modeled velocity is 833.33 currency units per day.
Interpret the result
Use the same currency throughout. The tool does not apply exchange rates, taxes, refunds, recurring revenue treatment or a subscription price.
Expected wins can be fractional because this is an aggregate model. Weighted pipeline is an assumption-based estimate, not booked revenue or a guarantee.
For planning, compare scenarios using your own historical cohort definitions. Chirply's actual forecast can use stage-specific history; this public tool uses the single win-rate assumption entered here.
Fix an input or download problem
Complete every required field and keep counts within the stated range. Related counts must describe the same cohort. If you change a value, calculate again to refresh the results. A zero denominator produces an unavailable rate.
